When representing the figure, whether it's a full figure or just a head I concentrate on the character and the visual space the figure occupies.
The mark making, colour and and the composition contribute to getting the character, the time and the place of the human subject. Trying to represent the 'normal ness' of figures - not the idealised representation that floods social media today. Maybe it could be described as social realism?
